Red, Black and White Necklace

This is a necklace that a friend commissioned for me to do for her.  The beads include many different styles.  Some of the beads are authentic to the middle ages while others are completely modern in design.  I had fun creating a unique necklace for her.  The beads include simple dots, horn beads, Islamic folded beads, and twisted stringers.  The central bead was made by laying on three parallel rows of twisted stringer and then twisting the central row with a black stringer.  I like the swirled effect.

The necklace has approximately 25 decorated beads and over 50 seed beads all made by hand.  I strung the beads on four strands of waxed black linen thread and knotted in between each bead.  The findings are sterling silver.  There are over 15 hours of work in the necklace.
