This is a commission that I
made for a friend. When she asked for a necklace she wanted something that
was purple, purple and more purple. She also asked that the necklace have
larger beads.
I am very happy with the central bead. The central bead was made with a technique I learned from the new Cindy Jenkins book , "Beads of Glass." It is a great book with lots of good instruction on some very cool techniques. The central bead of this necklace was made with the "Twisted Bubble Dot Bead" technique by Lani Ching on page 85. I choose to leave out the bubble part of the bead. Instead I altered the technique to just the twisted dots. I started with a black bead, added three rows of white and purple stacked dots, then twisted in between the dots. Most of the beads in the necklace are historical bead with the exception of the central bead. I normally only work in period patterns and decoration on my necklaces but for this one I wanted to branch out with some non-historical beads. Overall I am very happy with this necklace. It has a total of 23 decorated beads and approximately 50 seed beads for spacers and length. It took me about 4 hours to make the beads, another 4 to clean them, and then 4 more to string the necklace for a total of 12 hours. I strung the necklace on six strands of black waxed linen thread and knotted in between every bead.
P.S. I'm getting a little more "Artistic" in how I photograph my beads... What do you think?
