This is the first scroll I ever made, created 20-24 February 2000.

I made it for my lady, Isabel. At the Tourney of Ymir in Feb 99, she was awarded her Award of Arms in recognition of her many A&S entries, some of which won, during the Jan-Feb 99 time frame.

It took 6 hours to design and about 8 hours to make. I took some shortcuts laying it out because I was going for a period result rather than period technique.

She wanted it in green and white, with blue for background. She wanted a spiral, which I'm not very good at doing. Of course it shows her Arms in the lower right, along with knotwork and step patterns for decoration and her bindrune (I+U) in the lower left. The entire scroll is written in runic, phonetically using the Elder Futhark alphabet. It reads,

"Let it be known that Isabel Ulfsdottir has pleased us with her service to the Kingdom of Atlantia through her skills in the arts and sciences. We therefore confer upon her the right to bear arms on this thirteenth day of February, Anno Societatas thirty-three; to wit, argent, on a rolled scroll palewise vert, a wolf's paw-print argent.

Anton, Rex

Luned, Regina"

At the time of this picture, the scroll had not yet been signed.
